Latest Updates from Our Project:

VERY Alpha Rulebook is up!
7 months ago – Mon, Oct 13, 2025 at 07:29:06 PM

Just a quick update...

My colleague Adam from Posthuman Studios has been cranking away on the rulebook layout, and I think you will agree, it is looking great! Excited to move into the next phase, where we will expand the examples and dial in the format.

You can download the SCUM Alpha Rulebook PDF here.

If there is anything you'd like to see in the rulebook, let us know in the comments. We want it to be as clear and useful as possible, and feedback from the community will help us achieve that goal.

3 days left in the campaign, the finish line is in sight, and we cannot wait to move on from promotion mode and into production mode. So much more satisfying...

Thanks for supporting our creative vision,

Davidson and the Moose With Cup Creative team

6 Days Left + 5 Player Variant
7 months ago – Fri, Oct 10, 2025 at 09:07:33 AM

Greetings, Denizen of the Swarm! Thank you again for your support of SCUM. Indie creative projects like ours become a reality when folks like you get behind them. You are directly fostering innovation in the gaming space, and not only do we think that is vital for the industry we all enjoy so much, but we are grateful.

Hope you’ve had a fantastic week. Few bits of news to relay heading into SCUM’s final six days on Kickstarter…

5 PLAYER VARIANT?

We’ve had several people ask if there will be support for the game to handle more than 4 players, and I want you to know that we have been listening. Playtesting has already begun on a 5-player rules variant. So far, so good! A 6-player rules variant presents a much greater challenge, (the already intentionally tight resource curves get deathgrip tight!), but we will take a look at it as well. While we have some solid ideas for 5 players, 6 players may be a bit of a stretch. If these player counts are added, they will be variants to the core rules, suggestions on how to bend the systems to accommodate higher player counts.

ALPHA RULEBOOK: SOON!

We will be posting a VERY Alpha version of the SCUM Rulebook layout on Monday, 10/13. Below is a sneak peek…

If you have any thoughts to share with us, hit us up in the Comments section of the Kickstarter page or send us a message. We’d love to hear from you.

Take care and have a stellar weekend,

Davidson and the Moose With Cup Creative crew

SCUM Playthrough Video is up!
7 months ago – Mon, Sep 29, 2025 at 07:40:56 AM

Hi!

Quick update…we posted a SCUM Playthrough video on ye olde YouTube to give you a feel for the gameplay (satisfyingly crunchy) and cascading combos you can unleash during your turn. With the intricacy of the game engine, A LOT can trigger with just two Engage Actions per turn, as you will see in the video.

Game Designer (me) vs. Rules Editor (Michael). Killjoy vs. Berk. Wonder who is going to win? (It wasn't me...)

Thanks so much for supporting us, and please continue to spread the word. There are so many talented folks involved in SCUM, and their work deserves to be seen and experienced as widely as possible. It would be stellar if we could turn 270% funded into 500% over the next 17 days.

Have a great start to your week,

Davidson and the Moose With Cup Creative crew

It's FRIDAY, Kickstarter's in LOVE
8 months ago – Fri, Sep 19, 2025 at 07:36:29 AM

First off, hope you all have a great weekend!

Thank you for all the support so far, we've had a solid first 72 hours. Kickstarter hit our inbox with a cool little accolade yesterday, ye olde "Project We Love" badge. And since it's Friday...

If you haven't seen The Cure's 1992 music video for Friday, I'm In Love, I suggest giving it a view. I like to think that a SCUM dance party would have a similar joyful, raucous vibe.

Artist Mitchell and I are going to be putting together a few more art process vids and posts for those who dig seeing behind-the-scenes stuff, so be on the lookout for those. Below is from our early visual dev Miro board when Mitchell was exploring our character poses. I love looking back on these to see how far we have come over the last two years.

Let's parlay these first successful 72 hours into 72 more hours of success. I think that should be our new motto, "SCUM: We take life 72 hours at a time..."

Please keep spreading the word, and thanks again. SCUM is happening because of you.

Denizens of the Scum Swarm — Welcome!
8 months ago – Tue, Sep 16, 2025 at 05:04:34 PM

Thanks for your stellar support in funding Eclipse Phase: SCUM in the first 90 minutes and the start of a very strong day 1. If you're a longtime Eclipse Phase fan, thanks for joining us on this journey into the future. If you're new, we're glad that you've hitched a ride!

Over on the Discord we're fielding questions as they come in: https://discord.gg/seq9EJ2YQn

We do need your help to keep momentum up — please share the SCUM campaign with your friends and gaming buddies. We've created some Join the Swarm graphics to use on social media.

We're looking forward to bringing some hard sc-fi narrative flair and challenging tactical gameplay to your tabletop!

Thanks again,
Davidson, Moose With Cup Creative and Posthuman Studios
