SCUM April Update

Hallo Scum swarm denizens!
Things are moving along, and everything remains on target for the start of manufacturing. Longpack is working on the molds for the minis (the longest part of the manufacturing process), and we are finalizing all graphic design elements over the next two weeks.
Here is a perfect example of the types of tweaks we are into, eyeballs deep, during the homestretch of graphic design.
Left (new) vs Right (old)

Not a huge difference in the A-Rep icons, but it DOES make a big difference with the UI in terms of spacing on board pieces and cards. Not the most glamorous aspect of game design, but necessary to deliver the best experience.
Rulebook layout is going to take a bit more time, but Longpack will be able to start on everything else in May, so we have a bit of a cushion for the rulebook, which is always the most fiddly part of the layout process. That being said, I am happy with the latest draft. One of the areas we are focusing on over the next month is examples, which, when a game is this gloriously crunchy, examples REALLY need to be on point.
Switch to BackerKit
We decided to switch from Gamefound to BackerKit for pledge management and the late pledge/pre-order shop. Initial surveys are almost ready to go out and should be hitting your inboxes next week, once BackerKit approves our pre-order page and surveys.
PLEASE NOTE: Shipping charges will NOT be included in the initial BackerKit surveys. We will not be charging shipping until MUCH closer to the fulfillment target date in November to ensure the most accurate costs. Global shipping is bonkers right now, and we don’t want to make any mistakes with it. You will be able to enter your address with this survey, BUT we will NOT be charging for shipping/vat/tariff until a later date. Thanks for understanding.
Art Complete!
Mitchell finished our last remaining allies, and whoa, they are stunners.
The quality of the art for SCUM has been a priority for me, and I am SO proud of the effort from both Mitchell and Momo. Not only are they fantastic artists, but they are also great people. It feels really great to have all the art in the can.
Component Upgrades
Last, but certainly not least, we have decided to upgrade several components from punchouts to wood. After a lot of thought and number crunching, we felt that the best version of the game was the version we wanted to manufacture.
That’s it for now. Seeya in May, and thanks for coming along with us on this adventure.

SCUM February Update

Not sure how the rest of you are feeling, but I’ve had about enough of winter. Ice storms, 4 feet of grey snow at the edges of the driveway. NO MORE, I SAY! Spring cannot get here soon enough. Not just to melt away the winter blues, but also for the project. Spring is going to be a busy stretch for SCUM...
Mini Files with Longpack
Bryce finished the sculpts a couple of weeks ago, and the STL files are now with Longpack, and the mold creation process is underway. This part of the manufacturing process takes the most time, so we wanted to get going on it ASAP. We haven’t received a date yet from Longpack as to when we can see samples, but as soon as the Lunar New Year holiday break is over in mid-March, we should start getting dates for the mini samples. In the meantime, we will be getting the final three STL files up onto DriveThru. The goal is the first week of March for all six SCUM to be available for download. Print ‘em, paint ‘em, post ‘em! We’d love to see how they turn out. Here is our roster of SCUM!
Final Playtest
Our final playtest is in the books, and it went great. Discovered several UI improvements and found ways to reword some rules for more clarity. Thank you to one of our backers, Zenon and his crew, for hosting the playtest and for the quality feedback.
Pledge Manager & Late Pledge
We are going to wait a bit longer to launch the Pledge Manager on Gamefound until we lock in the final weight of the game with the manufacturer shortly after the Lunar New Year holiday. This is to ensure our shipping data is accurate when we launch the Pledge Manager. We should be able to have it up by the end of April/first week of May.
In the meantime, Late Pledges will open up on Gamefound in the first week of March. Few more tweaks to the page and it will be ready to launch.
Art Home Stretch
Momo is done with all the ships and the schematic card illos. Check out the salvage ship Bonanzarama and former military ship Smashed It...
And a sneak peek at the weapon schematic art. I am LOVING what Momo came up with for the schematics...
For the character art, Mitchell wrapped up the Masterminds last week and started concepting the final four allies. Once those allies are finished in the next couple of weeks, ALL art is in the can! Below is the mastermind Mnemosyne and a few concept sketches for Barnabas, Boitalker, Zeke the Trashman, and Vast. So excited for this final crop of allies. Mitchell always brings a tremendous amount of personality to the characters.
Graphic Design
Mar and I are going to be working together over the next few weeks to finalize everything and get it ready for print. First session is tomorrow! We are going to tweak a few icons based on feedback from the final playtest and make some minor adjustments to a couple of the card layouts, but other than that, the graphic design looks amazing. I could not be happier with the work Mar and Matt Paquette Co have put into the project and the dedication they have shown to realizing our vision for SCUM. We consistently receive feedback from folks on how amazing the game looks on the table.
That's all for now! Will be back in touch late-March after we've sent files off to Longpack and the manufacturing grind gets underway.
Thanks for the support, and may Spring get here real soon,

SCUM Happy 2026 Update

Happy New Year to all, and congratulations planet Earth for making it around the sun another time.
PRODUCTION UPDATES
SCUM continues to chug along towards our target date of sending all the files off to the manufacturer after the Chinese New Year in mid-February. There are a handful of art pieces left to do, along with a few UI and iconography tweaks over the next month and a half.
The Scum Must Die Adventure Framework outline is progressing, and the first draft of the framework should be ready for Posthuman Sprite’s editorial eyeballs in the spring.
ART UPDATES
Mitchell is wrapping up the final two Masterminds (Rook and Mnemosyne) in the next couple of weeks, but here is a peek at Project Ozma! Don’t know about you, but I am always in favor of an octo-synth sporting a bow tie…
Momo has four more ships to design, then the ship tiles will be complete! Below is the latest, YEAH, WE SAW THAT!
SCULPT UPDATES
Bryce got us first drafts of the final three character minis (Qi, Poly, Zym) before the holiday (amazing!), and we should be on schedule to send these off to Longpack before the end of January, which is great, because mini production takes the longest amount of time, and getting a jumpstart on the process before the Chinese New Year would be a big win for our timeline. Sneak peeks!
VARIANT UPDATES
5-player variant rules are done, and we are happy with the results. It only took a few small tweaks to the core 2-4 player rules.
We’ve expanded the exploration of variants to include co-op-only suggestions and competitive-only suggestions (the board game will not defeat the players, but rather act as a game-length “clock”). We still believe the most entertaining version of the game is the original design, but the game system is highly adaptable (proud of this!), so we want to include suggestions to meet the play styles of various gaming groups.
PLEDGE MANAGER & LATE PLEDGE
Both should be set up by the end of January on Gamefound.
THE SNARL RPG OPEN PLAYTEST
On another note…I’ve been collaborating for a while on a new RPG with my dear buds at Posthuman Studios, a weird fantasy RPG called The Snarl. We are currently running an open playtest, so if you want an early peek at the setting, you can find the playtest link here on the Kickstarter pre-launch page:
The system and character creation rules will be available soon. Below is one of the species you can play in the game, Kalioctera!
As always, thanks for getting behind our project and helping us make it a reality. Will be back in touch next month, till then, keep gaming and keep creating...

SCUM November Update

Hi!
It's been one month since the campaign closed, and the team has been back at it with verve and gusto (I think that should be the name of a coffee shop, a wacky animated show, or at least a law firm). Promised Monthly Update Time...
NEW ART FLYING IN!
Mitchell has polished off the Machinators already. Joining Charlie Boy, Shrewd-Oakmoss-Jellyfish, and Achjima will be Blackvein, Vija, and Praxis! I REALLY dig the style Mitchell has been going with for the Machinator art.
Momo is knocking out ship designs for the final handful of ship tiles. Below are the first drafts for TURN BACK!
Pledge Manager on Gamefound Q1 2026
We are getting everything together for the Gamefound Pledge Manager to open early next year. We will let you know when it is up and running.
Late Pledges Opening in December 2025
We will also be doing Late Pledges on Gamefound starting this December. We've had many folks bummed that they missed the campaign and asking about Late Pledges, so if you know anyone looking to back the project still, please spread the word that Late Pledges will be available in December, 2025.
5 Player Rules Variant Playtesting
Thanks to backer demand, playtesting is underway for a 5-player variant to be included in the rulebook. Feels pretty solid so far!
Digital Rewards for Muse & Mastermind Pledge Levels
If you backed at the Muse or Mastermind pledge levels, you're eligible for Eclipse Phase Second Edition (Muse & Mastermind) and Eclipse Phase Character Options (Mastermind) in digital format.
Posthuman Studios is sending out redemption codes for those rewards today, via DriveThruRPG. If you don't have them in your inbox by the time you read this message, please check your spam/junk folder in case it slid in there!
And of course, if you already have copies of those digital books, please share your redemption code with a trusted friend or a worthy enemy!
If you're eligible for a code and don't get one, or if you have trouble redeeming it, email [email protected] for assistance.
Thanks for the support, and we will be back with another update in December.

The Kickstarter campaign has come to a close, and now it's time to move on to what we do best. Create and complete.
I've thought a lot about what to say in this update, and I keep coming back to the simplicity of gratitude.
So, thank you.
To our backers, for having faith in our creative vision and for your enthusiasm for this amazing hobby of tabletop gaming, which challenges, entertains, and provides an escape from the chaos.
To my collaborators, for standing by me, for contributing your immense talents, and for always listening, no matter how outlandish my ideas may be.
And to my family and friends, for their unwavering support. The past couple of years of development would not have been possible without your sacrifices and patience.
SOOOOO, WHAT'S NEXT?
The goal for the entire team is to get SCUM into manufacturing as quickly as possible. Most of the core elements are already in place (rules, graphic design, art), so the remainder of 2025 is all about refinement, with only a handful of new elements needed. I will keep you posted once a month on what the team is bringing to completion.
We are going to continue playtesting rules variants for 5 and 6 players, and will keep you informed on the progress.
One of the best places to ask questions or just say hi will be the #scum-boardgame channel on the Posthuman Studios Discord.
Together, we will save the swarm and have a blast doing it.
Talk soon,
